On Wednesday afternoon, March 8, 2017, a private citizen out enjoying the Columbia Greenway Rail Trail observed an individual emptying construction material out of a truck in the area of Tin Bridge at the end of Ponders Hollow Road.
Due to this citizen's quick response in calling the police and his accurate description, officers were able to rapidly deploy to the scene and locate the vehicle. The suspect was apprehended as he left the scene. Officers found that although the suspect tried to pick up the debris he had been dumping when he realized he was being watched, he still left construction material behind in his hasty retreat.
Police cannot always be in the right place at the right time, but with the cooperation and quick thinking of community members, we are all working together to make our recreational spaces and our community as a whole an even better place to live, work and play.
